Annual Issue of Nagina International, several books released in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 13 (Only Kashmir): Dedicated to late Hakeem Manzooron, the Annual issue of “Nagina International” Urdu magazine was released here on Sunday. On the occasion “Sheesha ka Samundar,” “Pathar Pathar Ayeena” by Vashi Syed translated into Kashmiri by Rashid Kanspuri, “Lafz Lafz Dastan” by Noor Shah, “Jannat Ghran” by Khalid Hussain, “The Eternal Insight of Kashmir”, English translation of selected short stories of Kashmiri writers by Mushtaq B Barq and Shafi Ahmad were also released.

The function was presided over by Justice (Rtd) Bashir Ahmed Kirmani, also attended by prominent literary figures including  Rafiq Raz, Khalid Hussain and Chief Editor Nagina International, Veshi Syed.

Vashi Syed delivered the welcome and keynote addresses. Nasir Zameer read out the commentary on Nagina International’s annual issue 2020, written by Abdullah Khawar, which was all praise for its literary material and beautiful getup, The editorial board of the magazine was praised for its selfless service to the Urdu language.

Literary scholars read out commentaries on books released during the function among them Zahid Zaffar read out his commentary on “Sheesha Ka Samandar”, Dr. Nelofar Nehvi on “Lafz Lafz Dastan”, Mohammed Iqbal Lone on “Jannat Gharan” while as Mushtaq ul Haq Sikandar read his commentary on “The Eternal Insights Of Kashmir”

On the occasion, awards were distributed among the personalities for their excellences in their respective fields which includes Bashir Ahmad Bashir, Editor in Cheif Daily Srinagar Times, Dr. Nighat Farooq Nazar, Rashid Kanispuri, Mohd Shamas, and Akhtar Mahraj.

In his address, Rafiq Ahmad Raz said, “nothing can stop a literary mind to write, which is proven by these writers today in the Corona times, he congratulated Vashi Syed for publishing Nagina continuously for last 52 years.

On the occasion, the annual issue of Nagina 2020 was distributed among the audience.
Speaking on the occasion Khalid Hussain said, “ Nageen comes without limitations and can be considered a true piece of literature in every sense.

The chief guest on the occasion, Justice (Rtd) Bashir Kirmani said, “Writers are the plinths of a society, it is them who has played their part to assemble the crumbling society, adding, “we have a number of State languages now to confuse a person which is to be preferred, Urdu needs us more then we need it, as it’s on its very extinction.”

He said, “Magazines like Nagina are giving it a new life every year, he wished Nagina will always remain a rich source of Urdu literature through which our next generation will benefit.

Mohammed Ameen Bhat conducted the proceedings of the event while Zahoor Ahmed Tramboo presented the vote of thanks.

The event saw a ‘selected’ mammoth gathering of Urdu Lovers.
