Gandarbal, 18 Dec (Only Kashmir): Government School in district’s Cheninagh Chantan Gulabpora area was reopened after a gap of five years, which was declared defunct in 2015 due to lake of enrolment in the school.
Due to zero enrolment the school was then merged with Primary School Qurashi Muhallah Chantthan Gulabpora followed by an order by the then education minister Nayeem Akhter under which many schools having less or zero enrolment were merged into other nearby schools.
On the demand of local resident of the area the school started officially functioning on Tuesday 15 December 2020, by the order of ZEO Tulamula Mohammed Amin Shah after a gap of 5 long years followed by an enrolment drive which was conducted by ZEO Tulamula along with teachers and officials of the zone.
With the support of locals of the area many students got enrolled in the school During the drive, taking this into the consideration ZEO Tulamula ordered reopening of the school.
Meanwhile the decision of reopening of the school was appreciated by locals of the area.
Mohammed Nawab Khan a local resident of Chantan Gulabpora said, “Opening of this defunct school is a good steep to offer education to the local aspiring student at door steep which was the need of the hour.
Khan added, we hope the steep will benefit the local students of the area who will take full advantage of it, it is a welcome step taken by the worthy ZEO.
ZEO Tulamula Mohammed Amin Shah, while paying visit to far-flung schools of the Chont Waliwar said,” they are committed to provide a friendly environment to locals of the area so that they can take full benefit to it, adding, our staff is committed for the better future of the students, especially students belonging to far-flung areas.
During his visit, ZEO Tulamula distrusted books and school bags among the students.
