Srinagar, Jan 10 (Only Kashmir): A documentary giving a brief account on the life of revered Sufi saint, Sheikh-ul-Aalam Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali (RA) was released in Srinagar. The documentary gives a brief account of saint’s life also known as Alamdar-e-Kashmir (flag bearer of Kashmir) and Nund Reshi.
The documentary directed and scripted by Brijesh K Jha and Shuruti Awasthi, gives depth about how the Sheikh-ul-Aalam sow the seeds of “Kashmiriyat” by his extraordinary messages through poems, commonly known as shruk or couplets.
The documentary with visuals of shrine of Sheikh-ul-Aalam and his birthplace tells how the message of simplicity, universal love and an egalitarian philosophy has inspired countless Kashmiris over the ages. The documentary also has bytes from different people including academicians and trustees of saint’s shine.
The documentary with Kashmir’s iconic background music also briefs the audience about the desecration of Sheikh-ul-Aalam’s shine in 1995 during which thousands of houses were torched in Charar-e-Sharief, Budgam.
Presently, the shrine is thronged by devotees and tourists alike and offered Chadars and prayers for bringing in his merciful benevolence to one’s life.
Pertinently, Sheikh-ul-Aalam’s poetry is very influential, prestigious and esteemed at every angel; every line of his poetry has its own charm and message. His collection and combination of words is nonpareil. He used his poetry as tool to spread the true knowledge of Islam beyond the borders of limitation.
