Srinagar, Jan 12 (KNO): Inhabitants of Sheikh Mohalla area of Maharaj Gunj here have expressed resentment against the Power Development Department (PDD) for ‘failing’ to restore electricity from past 11 days in their locality.

The residents while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that they are facing immense hardships as the authorities in the PDD here failed to restore electricity in the area since January 02.

“Earlier, we were told that some technical snag has occurred somewhere and will be repaired soon. But later, we have been informed that the transformer has got damaged due to heavy snowfall,” Bilal Ahmad, a local said.

He added that the department is making different statements and is deliberately pushing the locals here to the wall, adding that the people here are reeling under darkness and none from the department bothers to ensure early restoration of electricity in their area.

Meanwhile, concerned Xen, Ali Muhammad Rather told KNO that the transformer in the locality got damaged and has been repaired now. “There was some issue regarding transportation, which has been resolved now. We will dispatch the transformer there tomorrow,” he said—(KNO)
