Government failed to meet demand of Fire station in Mahraj Gunj

The locals, besides, Lt. Governor, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir have once again appealed the concerned department to look into the matter on priority so as to avert any possible catastrophe.

Srinagar, Feb 01 (Only Kashmir): With every passing day the historic significance area of Srinagar city’s Mahraj Gunj is losing its sheen due to the ‘negligence’ by the administration. Historical Maharaj Gunj and adjoining areas in old city Srinagar were once major business centers and extensive interest of tourists, however, these days craving to regain its glory, thanks to the successive regimes.

On Sunday fire broke out in the vicinity of Mahraj Gunj near Wazapora, the damage caused due to the fire could have been restrained instantly if the fire tender extensively for the adjoining area was not shifted to some other places before some years.

This is not the first time fire tenders from different areas rushed late because of inaccessible and congested roads towards Mahraj Gunj to douse the blaze, but in earlier too.

According to the locals, the district administration was time and again appraised by the locals, traders about consequences of winding up fire and emergency services from area, however, these appeals and pleas so far fell into the deaf ears.

Pertinently, the directorate of Fire and Emergency services in its letter no DF&ES/BD/2018-19, dated 24/0/2019 approved the construction of 2 Bay Fire and Emergency service station in the area, however, no steps were taken on ground till date, thus putting the life and property of populace on stake.

The locals, besides, Lt. Governor, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir have once again appealed the concerned department to look into the matter on priority so as to avert any possible catastrophe.
