Srinagar, Feb 21 (Only Kashmir): In a bid to provide public education, information, rehabilitation services as well as academic and clinical support to those confronting mental health problems, India’s largest growing network of professionals and volunteers in Mental Health- MAP (Mental Health Action by People) -an ISO Certified, Saturday launched its Jammu and Kashmir chapter during a virtual program presided over by Dr. Krishnan Giresh, Founder, Chairman of MAP.

Dozens of professionals, mostly youngsters, from different walks and shades of life attended the virtual launching ceremony, during which Dr. Krishnan Giresh announced the names of office bearers of Mental Health Action by People (MAP) for Kashmir chapter.

In the names of office-bearers, prominent activist and MAP Executive Committee member Miss Neelam Gaash was declared as President for Jammu and Kashmir chapter, while Dr. Arif Maghribi, Journalists Ajaz Ahmad War and Malik Sajid, besides, Raja Muneeb was declared as Vice Presidents.

Syed Muneer Qadri and Syed Raahat Rafai were declared as General Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Eminent journalists Rameez Makhdoomi and Bilal Bashir Bhat were given the posts of Media Secretaries.

Apart from Organizing Secretary posts to Advocate Syed Junaid Saadat and Mr. Sarwar Malik, the Joint Secretary posts were given to Dr. Majid Iqfan and Ms. Zoe Qadri.
Tanveer Pathan, Adv Wahid, and Aga Arshid were inducted into Executive council on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Neelam Gaash, who is already serving as Executive Committee member MAP stated that the mental health among the valleyties has worsened over the years, and assured to work collectively in addressing and decreasing the population’s mental distress. She assured that this initiative will always remain apolitical to address the growing mental disorder among the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The newly appointed office bearers on the occasion during their speeches expressed pleasure to be the part of the maiden body of MAP-J&K Chapter. They pledged to assist MAP in their service efforts around their communities to reach every area of Jammu and Kashmir.
