July 2021 in Kashmir: 28 Militants Killed in 12 Encounters, 88 this year

Twelve operations were fought between militants and govenment forces across the valley in the month of July. The majority of the operations took place in different places of south Kashmir.

Srinagar 31 July: As many as 28 militants have been killed by government forces in the month of July 2021 in 12 different operations across the Kashmir valley, taking the toll of slain militants this year so far to 88.

Twelve operations were fought between militants and govenment forces across the valley in the month of July. The majority of the operations took place in different places of south Kashmir. In addition to the south Kashmir’s encounters, this month also saw gunfights erupting in central Kashmir’s Srinagar and North Kashmir.

Among the total of eight encounters in south Kashmir, 20 militants were killed and one of the encounters, besides the eight ones, was disappointment for the forces as trapped militants had escaped from the site in Redwani Kulgam after a brief exchange of fire.

Eight encounter sites of south Kashmir, where militants and forces engaged with each other in this month, are Hajin Rajpora of Pulwama, Puchal area of Pulwama, Zodar area of Pulwama, Kawarigam Ranipora area of Anantnag, Pulwama Town, Shopian, Aharbal Kulgam and Dachhigam forest area of Pulwama.

In North Kashmir, six militants were killed in three encounters which were fought in Bandipora, Handwara and Sopore in this month.

In Srinagar, one encounter was fought between militants and forces at Danmar, Eidgah area in July 2021. In the encounter, two militants of ISJK were killed, who were from Srinagar’s Natipora and had been active for around eight months.

With the July month’s militant death toll, a total of 88 militants have been killed in Kashmir so far this year. The slain also includes several militant commanders. As per data, LeT has suffered considerable damage in terms of losing its affiliated ones, including commanders, during the encounters.
