Srinagar: The alleged mismanagement by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Limited (NHIDCL) in clearing the bills of work, held in 2017-18 has left a Kashmir-based Engineering Consultancy company M/s Mount Geotechnical Services Private Limited (MGS) on the verge of bankruptcy.
The Managing Director of the MGS in a handout said that their company worked for Geotechnical Investigation work for Construction, Operation and Maintenance of 2-Lane Bi-Directional Zojilla Tunnel during the Year 2017-18, which was allotted to Indian Geotechnical Services who hired us (MGS) for this work.
They said that being the sub-contractor of Indian Geotechnical Services (IGS), we were told that the Payments will be made as per Payment Terms of Work order issued in our favor by our client (IGS), in which it was mentioned that 100% payment will be made on completion of work however, till the date only a small amount of payment was made.
In January 2019 NHIDCL has terminated the contract and formed a state-based committee of members including Add DC Ganderbal, Executive Engineer R&B Division Ganderbal and Divisional Commissioner Office to verify the work of various contractors worked on the project so that their payment can be made via mentioned committee.
After the committee forwarded the report to NHIDCL, however, it surprisingly dealt the issue with utmost discrimination wherein other contractors managed to receive the payment from time to time from NHIDCL, while as we are left on God’s mercy resulting in a massive financial crisis in our company.
Mount Geo Technical Services members said that a fresh payment is issued in respect of the work, which we came to know will also be transferred to other contractors, as such we request the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to ascertain the facts and transfer the amount to our company.
They also appealed to the Management of National Highways and Infrastructure Development to look into the matter so as to stop their company from going into bankruptcy following the non-payment of bills over the years.
