Srinagar: The parts of Downtown Old City Srinagar on Thursday observed partial shutdown against the killing of three alleged militants following a brief shootout in the Rambagh area of Srinagar city. The encounter in Srinagar city comes after ten days following a controversial “gunfight” at Hyderpora in Srinagar in which at least two civilians were killed.
According to our city reporter, shops and other business establishments remain closed in Downtown as a mark of protest against the killing of Mehran Yaseen Shalla, a slain among the three killed on Wednesday, adding, the public and private transport, however, was seen plying normally.
Police have identified the ‘militants’ killed as Mehran Yaseen Shalla of Jamallata, Downtown Srinagar and Manzoor Ahmad Mir and Arfat Ahmad Sheikh of Pulwama. They said the militants were affiliated to The Resistance Front (TRF), which police say is a shadow group of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Meanwhile, amid the sporadic shutdown of internet services in parts of Srinagar city the authorities on Wednesday late night completely snapped the Mobile Internet leaving the people to suffer immensely.
