Srinagar, 02 July: Kashmir-based photojournalist Sanna Irshad Mattoo was Saturday denied to book a flight for Paris where she was heading to attend a book launch and photography exhibition as one of 10 award winners of the Serendipity Arles grant 2020.
Sanna in a tweet said I was not allowed to travel abroad and was stopped at the International Airport in New Delhi, despite a valid visa from the country I was scheduled to visit.
Pertinently, Sanna Irshad Mattoo was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in the category of ‘Feature Photography for her coverage of the second wave of Coronavirus in India.

“I was scheduled to travel from Delhi to Paris today for a book launch and photography exhibition as one of 10 award winners of the Serendipity Arles grant 2020. Despite procuring a French visa, I was stopped at the immigration desk at Delhi airport. I was not give any reason but told I would not be able to travel internationally,” Sanna wrote on her Twitter handle.
Earlier in March, a prominent Indian journalist Rana Ayyub was also prevented from flying to Europe.
Pertinent to mention here, the Jammu and Kashmir administration aftermath of the abrogation of Article 370 allegedly prepared a list of over 450 people including businessmen, journalists, lawyers, and political activists, who would not be allowed to travel abroad for a particular time period.
