In a bid to pay homage to her deceased daughter, a man in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district gifted land worth Rs 10 Million to J&K Waqf Board.

Ali Mohammad Sheikh son of Mohammad Ahsan Sheikh of Wahidpora, Ganderbal donated land worth one crore rupees (10 Million) to J&K Waqf Board in memory of her young daughter Aabida Ali who had expired sometime back.

“Ali Mohammad was very emotional when he expressed his wish to donate the land to the Waqf Board in memory of her beloved daughter. I consoled him and praised him for this decision,” said J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi after accepting his request for presenting the ownership of the land to the Waqf Board in loving memory of her daughter.

The huge assets & properties need honest caring and management which was always lacking in J&K. People have started trusting us again after the new Board took over. Many people from far and near have approached J&K Waqf Board for taking over the Community Complexes, Masjids & Shrines for better management”, said Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi.

Earlier in May, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, cautioned threatened ‘encroachers’ of Waqf land and assets that a demolition campaign will be launched shortly across the Union Territory to restore the ownership of the so-called encroached properties to Waqf.

Pertinently, according to previous government records, around 800 acres (6,300 Kanal) of land belonging to the Waqf board has been encroached by various individuals and government organizations in the region.
