In Kashmir, although Cricket is the first choice of the youth when it comes to outdoor games, compared to other sports, the game of Rugby has gradually succeeded in attracting young players to its side.
Hyder Jameel War, a well-known 31-year-old young rugby player from Maisuma area of Kashmir, believes that the game of Rugby has a great future in Kashmir. Haider has won many honors in this sport since 2007.
Hyder’s team ROYAL RUGBY CLUB performed prominently in the recently concluded Rugby Championship held in Srinagar, the tournament organized by the Jammu Kashmir Rugby Association under the auspices of the Jammu Kashmir Sports Council.
Talking to the daily Onlykashmir.in, Hyder Jameel, the lone player of Rugby in his area, said that although the authorities have left no stone unturned to promote this game. However, there is a need to take more steps like constructing a dedicated stadium in each district for rugby.
He said that in this winter season, it is hoped that SNOW RUGBY will be organized so that the local youth can gain more experience in playing this game on the snowy ground.
