To introduce Kashmir’s rich tradition and culture, a two-day fest “SHIKARA” was held in New Delhi with mesmerizing performances by the Kashmiri artists including Aabha Hanjura.
The event, which took place on the 4th & 5th November 2023 was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Manoj Sinha, besides, witnessed the participation of different walks of life including Shikha Rai, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Cabinet Minister- Delhi Government.
To celebrate “Kashmir & Kashmiriyat” the event was organized by “Kashmir Education, Culture & Science Society (K.E.C.S.S)”, and was Co-Powered by, Invest Mango, Jayanti Motors Pvt. Limited, In Association with DBS bank, Poshte as gifting partner and Excitel as Internet Partner.
The event’s main attraction was a live telecast of the India v/s South Africa cricket match on a big screen, followed by some beautiful live singing and dance performances on Kashmir-based songs from Bollywood.
This event was one of its kind, it also had around 16 niche stalls to display Kashmiri Cuisine and culture (including, Artifacts, Handloom, clothing, Spices, etc.)
The event witnessed a huge turnout on both days, and the crowd had a great mix of people from all communities and religions.
“ This event was created to promote Kashmir & Kashmiriyat to the masses. This year, in its second avatar, the event not only has become grandeur but at the same time has been able to attract more cultures & communities to experience Kashmiri culture and hospitality” said Shri Kapil Kaul, Gen. Secretary, KECSS.
The event witnessed a lot of Youth participation as well, which tells us that we are going in the right direction,” said Smt. Savita Koul Shali, Official Spokesperson KECSS.
