The Delhi High Court has rejected the divorce appeal of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, against his estranged wife Payal Abdullah.
The division bench, led by Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, dismissed the appeal, finding no merit in the claims of cruelty.
The court supported the family court’s decision, emphasizing the vagueness of the allegations of cruelty made by Omar Abdullah against Payal Abdullah. The ruling highlighted the failure to provide evidence of any acts of cruelty, whether physical or mental, by Payal Abdullah.
The bench stated, “We find no merit in the appeal. The same is dismissed,” affirming the integrity of the family court order. This decision marks a significant legal outcome in the high-profile divorce case, bringing clarity to the allegations raised by Omar Abdullah.
This legal development adds a new chapter to the personal and public life of Omar Abdullah, a prominent political figure in the region. The court’s meticulous consideration of the evidence underscores the importance of substantiated claims in divorce proceedings.
Earlier in October, this year, Congress leader Sachin Pilot disclosed his separation from Sara Abdullah who is the daughter and sister of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Ministers Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah respectively.
