Srinagar, Only Kashmir News Desk
Thousands of subscribers in the Kashmir Valley are furious over an alleged scam by an “online survey” company called Curative Survey.” The subscribers, mostly students, pensioners, and housewives, allege that they were cheated by the company after investing their hard-earned money against the promised returns.
The Chennai-based company, with five to six offices in different districts of the Kashmir Valley, “disappeared” days before it was scheduled to pay out the money earned to its subscribers.
Sajad Ahmad, a resident of Old City Srinagar, and one of the subscribers of the company spoke to Onlykashmir[dot]in and stated “I opened around 50 accounts worth Rs 5000 per account to answer the further surveys aimed at earning more money,” adding for a few months the payment was made smoothly by the company, however from last week all my earned money stopped with the reasons they only know.
“I was surprised to learn that the company has disappeared with all the money earned by its subscribers, estimated at 59 crores.”
Another subscriber, Imtiyaz Dar, a student from Budgam, explained that he, along with other classmates, fell for the company’s scam after investing their pocket money on the recommendation of one person, Idrees Mir.
Idrees Mir, who turns out to be a vlogger, said that he had advertised the company Curative Survey for the greater interest of students and elderly people after proper scrutiny of the company’s documents.
When Onlykashmir[dot]in tried to contact the phone numbers provided on the website of the company, they turned out to be unreachable. Our investigation revealed that the company had even defrauded its local employees.
A case has been filed with the cyber police to investigate the matter, said a source here.
