The maiden visit of Prime Minister Narender Modi’s post abrogation of Article is seen as a positive step towards addressing issues and improving development by the people of Valley.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a rally with party leaders expecting a crowd of over one lakh people at Bakshi Stadium, here, on March 7.
A local, named Feroz Ahmad told this news portal, “PM Modi is coming for his first visit following the abrogation of Article 370. I am very excited. Today, the whole world is seeing us, we are on the right path and we will achieve big things”.
“Great infrastructural development has been taking place under the Modi government, be it the Smart City Project or the holding of G20 Conference in Kashmir. We hope Kashmir will achieve a world-class level of development,” Amir Rizvi from Srinagar said.
While speaking to ANI, BJP senior member and Chairperson J&K Waqf Board Dr Darakshan Andrabi said, “Our beloved Prime Minister is coming to Kashmir on March 7. Every Kashmiri wants to give a warm welcome. Not only the party workers are excited but the people are equally excited… Men and women are saying that their son or brother is coming and they want to see him.”
Inside sources said that the decision to change the venue of PM Modi’s rally from SKICC to Bakshi Stadium amidst the high possibility of a massive crowd.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi proved himself a strong leader by taking the bold decision of Abrogation of Article 370, which was not done in the past 65 years by previous governments only to appease a few people. Owing to the consistent efforts of PM Modi, people in J&K today feel safe and secure and Kashmiri Pandits who had to flee 33 years back, are now considering it safe to come back to their homeland,” said Jeevan Zutshi.
Pertinently, Modi hasn’t visited Kashmir so far after the erstwhile state’s special status was revoked on August 5, 2019. The last time he visited was on February 3, 2019, ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. In November 2015, the Prime Minister addressed a public meeting at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.
