Srinagar, April 20, 2024: Today, the renowned Fortis Bloom IVF Centre took center stage at a press conference in Srinagar, shedding light on the pressing issue of infertility. Dr. Pooja Mehta, a distinguished gynecologist and IVF expert from Fortis Mohali, spearheaded the discussion, delving into the complexities surrounding infertility and offering insights into potential solutions.

Dr. Mehta’s address began with a stark revelation about the alarming rise in infertility cases, particularly among women aged thirty-five and above. With a wealth of experience, she emphasized that many cases of infertility could be reversed through simple lifestyle adjustments and non-invasive medical interventions, avoiding the need for more intrusive procedures.

One of the key points emphasized by Dr. Mehta was the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. She urged couples to seek medical assistance if conception did not occur within six months of marriage if the wife was over thirty-five and one year in case the wife was less than thirty-five years old. Stressing the significance of proactive measures, she recommended egg freezing as a viable option for women in their late twenties or early thirties to preserve fertility.

The conference also addressed lifestyle factors contributing to infertility, such as late marriage and unhealthy dietary habits. Dr. Mehta underscored the role of homemade meals in maintaining reproductive health and warned against the adverse effects of obesity on fertility.

Dr. Mehta said that studies have found the heat from a laptop can raise the temperature of the testicles when placed on a man’s lap and can affect the production of sperm. She stated that in Kashmir, men should avoid using a “Kangri” (traditional Kashmiri Firepot used for heating purposes) usually placed between the legs.

Moreover, Dr. Mehta provided insights into the range of treatment options available to couples grappling with infertility. While highlighting the success rate of IVF, she also cautioned about potential side effects and urged couples to consider less invasive alternatives before opting for advanced procedures.

Drawing from real-life patient experiences, Dr. Mehta underscored the importance of timely treatment. She stressed that infertility often involves both partners and necessitates thorough investigations to identify underlying causes.

Addressing concerns about failed IVF attempts, Dr. Mehta outlined the various factors contributing to such outcomes, including embryonic issues, uterine health, and laboratory conditions. She emphasized the need for a holistic approach to fertility treatment, encompassing both physical and emotional aspects.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Mehta reiterated the importance of mutual support between couples undergoing fertility treatment. She emphasized the role of a healthy lifestyle in optimizing fertility outcomes and expressed confidence that with the right approach, many couples could overcome infertility challenges.

She said “At Fortis Bloom IVF Centre, our mission is to empower couples with the knowledge and resources they need to navigate the complexities of infertility. Through personalized care and cutting-edge treatments, we are committed to helping couples fulfill their dreams of parenthood.” –
