JAMMU, JUNE 27: Jammu and Kashmir has achieved the second position nationwide in the PM Vishwakarma training initiative, surpassing many larger states. Budgam and Jammu districts from Kashmir and Jammu divisions respectively have secured places among the top 10 districts in the country.

Implemented by the Union Ministry of MSME with active support from the Jammu & Kashmir government, the PM Vishwakarma scheme aims to empower artisans in 18 different trades, recognizing their role in preserving cultural heritage. Launched on September 17, 2023, the scheme provides certification, skill development, credit assistance, and marketing support, fostering economic growth while enriching the cultural tapestry of Jammu and Kashmir.

Under the leadership of MSME DFO Jammu, the scheme’s implementation has included district-wise officers, regular follow-up meetings, and widespread awareness seminars across the region. State-level committees have facilitated timely processing of applications, ensuring artisans receive benefits promptly.

This initiative not only promises a brighter future for J&K’s artisans but also strengthens the state’s economic foundation while preserving its rich cultural heritage.
