UNITED NATIONS: A photo exhibition was held outside the United Nations office in Geneva on Friday, highlighting the rapid development and progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
The event, organized by Sheikh Khalid Jehangir, a writer and activist from Srinagar, and supported by international human rights defender Elena Vallejo, aimed to showcase the positive changes taking place in the Union Territory of India.

The exhibition featured a series of posters depicting various technological interventions, advances in food technology and processing, innovative approaches to cleaning Dal Lake, traditions of silk weaving, and projects under the Srinagar Smart City initiative.
Sheikh Khalid emphasized the importance of discussing developments in tourism, education, and environmental conservation efforts, particularly the ongoing efforts to restore Dal Lake.

Reflecting on the historical context, Khalid highlighted Kashmir’s decision to accede to India as a secular state in 1947, opting for democracy and progressing in alignment with Muslim-majority Pakistan.

He expressed satisfaction with the current government’s efforts in combating terrorism, which was echoed during his participation in the 56th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

The exhibition aimed to counter extremist ideologies, especially among the youth, and demonstrate the resilience of the Kashmiri people in the face of challenges.
Khalid emphasized that the event was an important moment to showcase Kashmir’s journey towards prosperity and peace at the global level, sending a message of hope and flexibility.
