As many as 279 candidates have filed their nomination papers across 24 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) of seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir which are going to polling in the first phase of J&K Assembly Election 2024. Tuesday was the last day of filing nomination papers for the first phase of Assembly Election scheduled to be held on September 18, 2024.
Here’s the breakdown of the 279 candidates who have filed nominations for the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election 2024, organized by the number of Assembly Constituencies (ACs) in each district:
Districts with 7 ACs
• Anantnag: 72 candidates
o 43-Anantnag West AC: 14 candidates
o 46-Shangus-Anantnag East AC: 13 candidates
o 44-Anantnag AC: 13 candidates
o 41-Dooru AC: 12 candidates
o 42-Kokernag (ST) AC: 11 candidates
o 47-Pahalgam AC: 6 candidates
o 45-Srigufwara-Bijbehara AC: 3 candidates
Districts with 4 ACs
• Pulwama: 55 candidates
o 32-Pampore AC: 16 candidates
o 34-Pulwama AC: 14 candidates
o 33-Tral AC: 13 candidates
o 35-Rajpora AC: 12 candidates
Districts with 3 ACs
• Doda: 41 candidates
o 51-Bhaderwah AC: 16 candidates
o 52-Doda AC: 16 candidates
o 53-Doda West AC: 9 candidates
• Kishtwar: 32 candidates
o 48-Inderwal AC: 13 candidates
o 49-Kishtwar AC: 11 candidates
o 50-Padder-Nagseni AC: 8 candidates
• Kulgam: 28 candidates
o 39-Kulgam AC: 11 candidates
o 40-Devsar AC: 11 candidates
o 38-DH Pora AC: 6 candidates
Districts with 2 ACs
• Shopian: 28 candidates
o 36-Zainapora AC: 15 candidates
o 37-Shopian AC: 13 candidates
• Ramban: 23 candidates
o 54-Ramban AC: 13 candidates
o 55-Banihal AC: 10 candidates
The scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled for August 28, with the last date for withdrawal being August 30. The election will take place on September 18, 2024, with over 23.27 lakh eligible voters.
