SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department has forecasted a rainy week with thundershowers across various regions of Jammu and Kashmir, followed by expected dry weather.
According to MeT officials, Jammu and Kashmir will see mostly cloudy skies, accompanied by light to moderate rain and thundershowers on August 28-29. Another spell of light to moderate rain and thundershowers is anticipated at many locations on August 30.
Brief rain and thundershowers are expected at isolated places across the region between August 31 and September 1. The weather from September 2-3 is likely to remain generally cloudy, with scattered rain and thundershowers.
Dry weather is expected to prevail from September 4-7.
The officials warned of intense showers for brief periods at certain locations, with heavy rain likely in isolated areas of the Jammu division until late night/early morning on August 30. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in isolated spots within the south Kashmir part on August 29. These conditions could trigger flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas.
A drop in daytime temperatures is expected, with the possibility of light snowfall over higher elevations on August 29. (KDC)
