On the last day for nomination withdrawals for Phase 2 of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024, 27 candidates withdrew, leaving 239 candidates in the fray for 26 Assembly Constituencies. The highest number of candidates is in Ganderbal (15), and the lowest is in Budhal (4). Polling is set for 25 September 2024.
District-wise Breakdown:
Srinagar: 93 candidates remain; the highest number withdrew here (6).
Budgam: 46 candidates remain with 9 withdrawals, the highest in any district.
Rajouri: 34 candidates, with 5 withdrawals.
Poonch: 25 candidates, with 5 withdrawals.
Ganderbal: 21 candidates; no withdrawals.
Reasi: 20 candidates, with 2 withdrawals.
Constituency Highlights:
Reasi District: Gulabgarh (ST) AC has 6 candidates; Reasi AC has 7; Shri Mata Vaishno Devi AC also has 7.
Rajouri District: Kalakote–Sunderbani AC has 11 candidates; Nowshera AC has 5; Rajouri (ST) AC has 8; Budhal (ST) AC has 4; Thannamandi (ST) AC has 6.
Poonch District: Surankote (ST) AC has 8 candidates; Poonch Haveli AC has 8; Mendhar (ST) AC has 9.
Ganderbal District: Kangan (ST) AC has 6 candidates; Ganderbal AC has 15.
Srinagar District: Hazratbal AC has 13 candidates; Khanyar AC has 10; Habbakadal AC has 16; Lal Chowk AC has 10; Channapora AC has 8; Zadibal AC has 10; Eidgah AC has 13; Central Shalteng AC has 13.
Budgam District: Budgam AC has 8 candidates; Beerwah AC has 12; Khansahib AC has 10; Chrar-I-Sharief AC has 10; Chadoora AC has 6.
Initially, 309 candidates filed nominations, with 266 validated after scrutiny. After withdrawals, 239 remain for the upcoming elections.
