In a major announcement on Monday, Ranjit and Harjit Film Production revealed their upcoming project, Saadiya, a story about a young Kashmiri girl who transforms her life from a place of stress and difficulty to one filled with hope and success. Directed by Chandrakant Pandey, the film will star Bollywood actress Ulka Gupta in the titular role of Saadiya.
During a press conference, company director Ranjit Kaur and producer Satnam Singh shared exciting details about the film. Kaur emphasized the beauty and significance of Kashmir as a location. “Kashmir is world-renowned for its stunning landscapes. Since the story is about a Kashmiri girl, we have decided that 90 percent of the film will be shot in various parts of the Kashmir region,” said Kaur.
Producer Satnam Singh added that Saadiya is being made with a social message, making it a film that can be enjoyed by the whole family. “The story represents a crucial perspective on society—a girl who stands strong against all odds, overcomes her challenges, and emerges successful. It was this powerful theme that inspired me to produce the film,” Singh explained.
Before the film begins production, an open audition will be held in Srinagar to give local Kashmiri artists a chance to be part of the film. The shooting is planned to last for 40 days across multiple scenic locations in Kashmir.
Ulka Gupta, thrilled about her role in Saadiya, expressed her excitement about shooting in the valley. “It’s a privilege to work in Kashmir. It’s like a dream come true, and I hope to get more opportunities to work in such a breathtaking place in the future,” she said.
With its blend of social relevance, local talent, and the stunning backdrop of Kashmir, Saadiya is poised to become a significant film in Indian cinema, offering a fresh perspective on personal transformation and resilience.
