College NSS Units Organize Special Lectures on Waste Management

Pulwama: Continuing with the nationwide initiative “Swachhta Hi Sewa” (4.0), the National Service Scheme (NSS) Units of the college, under the guidance of esteemed Principal Prof. (Dr.) Huda Galzai, today organized a special lecture on the theme “Waste Management: Practices & Possible Implications.” The event aimed at creating awareness among students and faculty about the critical need for effective waste management to safeguard the environment and public health.

The session was led by Dr. Taveer Bilal, Assistant Professor from the Department of Bioresources, GCW Pulwama, who emphasized the importance of adopting proper waste management techniques. He elaborated on how waste management practices like reducing waste, reusing materials, recycling, and segregating waste can significantly reduce pollution. Dr. Bilal also stressed the importance of composting, responsible disposal of hazardous waste, and active community involvement in tackling waste-related challenges, especially in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir (UT J&K).

During the lecture, Dr. Bilal provided practical insights into how these waste management practices can mitigate negative environmental impacts. He encouraged active participation from local communities in waste management initiatives to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.
