The Faculty of Forestry at SKUAST-K celebrated Graduation Day, Sports Week, a Food Festival, and Fresher’s Day at its Benhama-Watlar Campus. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganaie, inaugurated the events and praised the institution’s progress, stressing resilience and critical thinking as keys to societal impact. Chief Organizer Prof. Syed Naseem Geelani welcomed guests, while Dean Prof. Sajad Ahmad Gangoo led an oath pledging to conserve forests and serve humanity.
The Food Festival showcased dishes from various regions, with “Dasi Sensation” from Bihar taking top honors, followed by “Rangyul” from Ladakh and “Khusbo” from Kashmir. Prof. Ganaie commended Student Organizer Peer Ibrahim for his efforts. Sports Week began with a volleyball match inaugurated by Prof. Ganaie, joined by Dean of Students Welfare Prof. Neelofar and other university officials. The celebration wrapped up with a cultural performance that embodied community spirit, with Prof. Akhlaq Amin Wani offering a vote of thanks to faculty, students, and organizers for their contributions.
Notable attendees included Director of Research Prof. Haroon R. Naik, Dean of Agriculture Prof. Rehana H. Kant, Dean of Fisheries Prof. Farooz Ahmad Bhat, and several dignitaries, faculty members, and staff.
