Srinagar, November 14—In recognition of World Diabetes Day, Safa Marwah Hospital organized a Diabetes Awareness Rally to raise awareness about diabetes prevention and management.
DSP Hazratbal, Ashiq Hussain, along with the Head of Safa Marwah Hospital, Dr. Nazira, environmentalist Dr. Touseef Bhat, and social worker Syed Aijaz Kashani, flagged off the event. Also in attendance were Dr. Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Chairman of Safa Marwah Hospital; Dr. Arif Kashani; Hospital Management Head Mr. Khawar Mufti; Dr. Muzafar Zargar; Dr. Basharat Jeelani; and Dr. Gulnar Mufti, a diabetologist.
Hundreds of hospital management volunteers participated in the rally, marching enthusiastically to spread vital health information and encourage the community to adopt healthier lifestyles. The rally, which began at Safa Marwah Hospital and proceeded through key areas of Budgam, served as a platform to promote the importance of diabetes prevention, healthy dietary choices, regular physical activity, and timely medical check-ups.
Dr. Nazira, the head of Safa Marwah Hospital, emphasized the critical need for awareness and community involvement in managing diabetes, stating, “Diabetes is a growing health concern, and with the right knowledge, individuals can take control of their health and prevent complications. We aim to empower the community with the information they need to make positive changes.”
Dr. Touseef Bhat highlighted the link between environmental factors and health, stressing that sustainable and clean environments contribute significantly to overall wellness and the prevention of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes. Social worker Syed Aijaz Kashani spoke about the need for community support in addressing health challenges, calling for collective action to support those affected by diabetes.
The rally concluded with a brief session on diabetes prevention and management, conducted by Safa Marwah Hospital’s medical team, who offered free screenings and consultations for participants. The event underscored Safa Marwah Hospital’s commitment to public health and its dedication to combating diabetes through proactive education and community engagement.
