Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reiterated his government’s commitment to impartial governance, free from political affiliations. Chairing a review meeting in Samba, he directed officials to address public grievances with urgency and seriousness, regardless of the political background of the complainants.
Accompanied by Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary and senior officials, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for public service to remain neutral, prioritizing the public good over party interests. He highlighted the role of elected representatives, urging officials to process development proposals based on public utility rather than political bias.
Omar Abdullah acknowledged that this year’s development had been delayed due to the extended parliamentary elections and the Model Code of Conduct imposition. He instructed officers to expedite pending developmental projects and ensure their timely completion, stressing the importance of on-ground execution.
The Chief Minister also called for the timely submission of Utilization Certificates (UCs) to the central government, warning that delays affect the state’s ability to secure funds. He urged officials to address staffing issues in rural hospitals and schools, where vacancies have hampered essential services.
During a public redressal camp, Abdullah assured residents and industrial representatives that their genuine grievances would be resolved promptly. He also took stock of issues raised by local MLAs, including the progress of industrial estates, the installation of smart meters, and the status of the Katra-Amritsar-Delhi Expressway. He directed officials to address land acquisition and other bottlenecks delaying the project.
On the issue of drug addiction, the Chief Minister called for a coordinated approach to combat the menace, stressing that stricter vigilance was needed to control cross-border drug inflow. He urged authorities to strengthen anti-drug measures and support rehabilitation efforts.
Omar Abdullah e-inaugurated key infrastructure projects and laid the foundation for new initiatives aimed at boosting public welfare and regional development. He encouraged MLAs to submit proposals for priority projects for inclusion in the next budget, promising a more streamlined planning process for the coming fiscal year.
The Chief Minister’s visit concluded with an appeal for unity and collective effort to overcome challenges, reinforcing his vision of governance driven by public interest rather than political favoritism.
