Corporate Centre (CC) emerged as the POWERGRID Inter-Regional Cricket Tournament 2024 champions, defeating hosts Northern Region-II (NR-II) by 27 runs in the final played at MA Stadium, Jammu. Batting first, CC scored 140/9 in 20 overs, while NR-II managed 113/9 in their 20 overs. Mukesh Bhakar of CC was named Man of the Match.
Sh. Tarun Bajaj, Executive Director POWERGRID, Northern Region-II, was the Chief Guest, while Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council, and Sh. Jagmohan Sharma, Chairman of JPDCL, was Guests of Honour. The dignitaries presented trophies and mementos to players and officials.
Mukesh Bhakar was declared Man of the Tournament. Arun Khatkar (CC) won Best Batsman, Ramesh Bishnoi (NR-I) was named Best Bowler, and Ankush Kundal (NR-II) received the Best Fielder award.
The tournament, held from December 14 to 18, 2024, saw participation from 11 teams, including ER-I, ER-II, NR-I, SR-I, SR-II, WR-I, WR-II, NER, CC, NR-III, and hosts NR-II.
POWERGRID, a Maharatna enterprise under the Ministry of Power, operates 178,975 ckm of transmission lines, 280 substations, and a transformation capacity of 5,43,961 MVA, with system availability of over 99%. Northern Region-II, headquartered in Jammu, oversees transmission in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, parts of Haryana, and the UTs of Chandigarh, Ladakh, and J&K.
