Pakistan has launched a series of airstrikes targeting suspected militant hideouts in Afghanistan’s Paktika province. The strikes, which occurred on the night of December 24, resulted in the deaths of dozens of people, including women and children. The death toll is expected to rise as rescue efforts continue.
The airstrikes targeted seven villages, causing widespread destruction and exacerbating the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Local officials reported that the strikes aimed to dismantle training facilities of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a militant group that has intensified its attacks on Pakistani forces in recent months.
The Afghan Ministry of Defence condemned the airstrikes, labeling them as a brutal act against international principles and a blatant aggression. The strikes have further strained diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with both sides accusing each other of harboring militants.
The international community is closely monitoring the escalating conflict, urging both nations to seek peaceful resolutions and avoid further civilian casualties.
