Washington: – Known for brokering the Egypt-Israel Peace treaty and Nobel Peace Prize Awardee, Former US President Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, has passed away at the age of 100.
Carter, who was the longest-lived US President, died at his home in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by family. His demise marks the end of an era characterized by his dedication to peace, human rights, and humanitarian efforts.
Born on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia, Carter graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1946 and served in the Navy until 1953. He later managed his family’s peanut farming business before entering politics. Carter served as the 76th Governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975 and was elected as the 39th President of the United States, serving from 1977 to 1981.
Major Achievements:
- Camp David Accords: One of Carter’s most significant achievements was brokering the Camp David Accords in 1978, which led to a peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. This landmark agreement earned him international acclaim and set a precedent for future peace negotiations.
- Nobel Peace Prize: In 2002, Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, advance democracy, and promote human rights.

Carter’s death follows that of his wife, Rosalynn, who passed away in November 2023. He is survived by his four children, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
