In recent days, the Baramulla in Kashmir has been the epicenter of a controversial incident. Abdul Razak Lone, a resident of Waripora Kunzar, constructed a replica of the Holy Kaaba, which quickly went viral on social media. This act sparked significant anger and unrest among the local population, who demanded strict action against those responsible.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police swiftly intervened, arresting eight individuals, including a carpenter, for allegedly instigating and assisting Abdul Razak, who is reportedly mentally unsound, in building the replica.

The police have initiated legal proceedings against the accused and demolished the structure.

Local residents have welcomed the police action and called for a thorough investigation to prevent such incidents in the future. The authorities have also urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors and misinformation on social media.

Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir Police earlier also swiftly responded to the situation. They arrested Abdul Razak Lone, who claimed to be a Sufi saint akin to Sheikh Nooruddin Wali, and urged people to visit his site if they couldn’t travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj or Umrah.

Initially, the police attempted to persuade Abdul Razak to dismantle the structure himself. However, when he refused, the authorities decided to take matters into their own hands. With the help of residents, the replica was voluntarily demolished during the night to avoid further unrest.

Following the dismantling, Abdul Razak was taken into custody and is set to undergo psychiatric evaluation before any further legal action is taken. The police have assured the public that necessary medical care will be provided to him.
