Rajouri, February 19, 2025 – Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), in collaboration with Bhartiya Bhasha Samiti, Ministry of Education, organized a National Seminar on “The Role of Regional Languages in Nation-Building with Respect to NEP 2020.”
Vice Chancellor Prof. Jawaid Iqbal emphasized NEP 2020’s focus on multilingual education and announced new departments, including Sanskrit, along with the rollout of FYUP programs. Shri Chamu Krishna Shastry, Chairman of Bhartiya Bhasha Samiti, praised BGSBU’s efforts, stressing the role of language in cultural identity.
Eminent linguist Prof. R.C. Sharma (University of Delhi) and Prof. Shreedhar Mishra (Central Sanskrit University, Jammu) highlighted the importance of regional languages in policymaking and cultural preservation. Mr. Abhishek Sharma, IAS, Registrar, BGSBU, underscored their role in governance and administration.
Prof. M.J. Warsi, Dean Academic Affairs, discussed linguistic diversity’s impact on innovation and social cohesion, while Mr. Sudhanshu Bhushan (Bhartiya Bhasha Samiti) and Mr. Mohd Farooq Muztar (Founder, HEM Rajouri) commended the university’s efforts. Mr. Qayoom Mir (Administrator, Auqaf Rajouri) lauded BGSBU’s commitment to academic excellence.
Books by Dr. A.A. Shah, Dr. Mushtaq Siddiqui, and Prof. Rafiq Anjum were released at the event. The seminar, coordinated by Dr. Marya Aslam, featured research presentations in Hindi, English, Urdu, Gojri, and Pahari, fostering a rich academic exchange. Dr. Tanvir Ahmed conducted the proceedings, while Dr. Shams Kamal Anjum delivered the vote of thanks.
