In Srinagar’s Khunmoh, 22-year-old Mudasir Rashid, an engineering student, is transforming discarded wood into stunning art pieces. What began as a hobby after watching a craft video has now turned into a thriving passion. “I made a piece of art, gifted it to a friend, and never looked back,” he says.
Mudasir sees potential where others see waste. “When I find usable wood, I craft it into art,” he explains. His creations—clocks, showpieces, and functional items—turn ₹10 materials into pieces worth thousands.
His family supports Mudasir balancing multiple roles: student, technician, craftsman, and bird seller. “My parents always back me,” he says. He credits his success to hard work and faith, adding, “Allah opens doors for those who work passionately.”
Inspired by global artisans, Mudasir dreams big. “I saw a table made from wood worth $49,000. Why can’t we achieve that?” he asks. Using social media, he showcases and sells his work, proving that passion and perseverance can turn humble materials into extraordinary art.
Mudasir’s story is a beacon of hope, showing that creativity and dedication can transform waste into wonder.
