Riyadh, February 22, 2025 – The 2025 Saudi Cup, held at the prestigious King Abdulaziz Racetrack, witnessed an exhilarating finish as Forever Young clinched victory by a neck over Romantic Warrior. This marks Forever Young’s second Saudi Cup victory, having previously won the 2024 Saudi Derby. The race was highly anticipated, with Romantic Warrior debuting on dirt.
Several distinguished guests graced the event, including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who presented the trophy to the winning team. Other notable attendees included international celebrities, top jockeys, and trainers from around the globe.
During his attendance at the event at the King Abdulaziz Racecourse in the capital, the crown prince also met with FIFA president Gianni Infantino and Al-Nassr and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Saudi Cup coincided with Saudi Foundation Day, a national holiday commemorating the establishment of the first Saudi state by Imam Mohammed bin Saud in 1727. The day was marked by various cultural and artistic events, showcasing the rich heritage and history of Saudi Arabia.
Forever Young’s victory secured him a guaranteed entry into the Breeders’ Cup Classic in November at Del Mar. The race was a thrilling duel, with Forever Young setting a new stakes record for 1,800 meters with a time of 1:49.12 on a fast track.
The Saudi Cup continues to be a significant event in the horse racing calendar, attracting top talent and offering a platform to celebrate Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage and sporting excellence.
