The Election Commission of India (ECI) has commended Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo for his outstanding leadership in conducting the 18th Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in the Union Territory. Dulloo received a ‘Certificate of Exemplary Leadership’ from the Chief Election Commissioner and two Election Commissioners, recognizing his role in ensuring smooth and successful polls.
Marking the first general elections post-2019 reorganization, J&K saw a record 58.11% voter turnout—the highest since 1989—up over 14% from 44% in 2019. With 87,26,281 eligible voters, the administration set up 11,629 polling stations and deployed 80,724 trained personnel across the region.
Breaking new ground, the elections featured 83 women-managed, 70 youth-run, 73 PwD-operated, 88 eco-friendly, 180 border, 152 model, and 46 themed polling stations. These innovative setups prioritized accessibility and inclusion for women, youth, and Persons with Disabilities, enhancing participation and transforming the electoral experience in J&K.
