The Research and Advocacy Group (RAAG), a collective of legal experts, academics, and media professionals, organized a seminar titled “POJK: Parliament’s Resolution & Legal Discourse” at the Lawyers’ Chamber, J&K High Court Complex in Jammu.

Speakers, including Dr. (Captain) Alok Bansal of India Foundation, Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi, and U.K. Jalali, former Advocate General of J&K, provided in-depth perspectives on Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK).

The event, introduced by RAAG Convener Advocate Deepak Sharma, focused on India’s constitutional and legal claim over POJK, aligned with Parliament’s resolution.

Jalali critiqued the Shimla Agreement, arguing that India’s leadership missed a chance to barter POJK after the 1971 Indo-Pak War, and condemned Pakistan’s use of the region as a terror base, contrary to international law.

Sethi underscored that POJK’s occupation resulted from Pakistani aggression, not local uprising, and emphasized Parliament’s resolve to reclaim all illegally held territories, including areas under Chinese control.

Bansal contrasted J&K’s democratic freedoms with Pakistan’s dictatorial treatment of POJK residents, highlighting the exploitation of their natural resources by Pakistan’s military and government.

The seminar, attended by legal professionals, scholars, and civil society members, featured a lively Q&A session. Coordinated by Advocate Prem Sadotra, it concluded with Advocate Arvind Khajuria delivering a vote of thanks, reaffirming RAAG’s commitment to national advocacy, followed by high tea.
