Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired the 15th Union Territory Level Bankers’ Committee (UTLBC) meeting to review banking performance for FY 2024-25’s first three quarters.
Attendees included Principal Secretary Finance Santosh D. Vaidya, J&K Bank MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee, and senior officials from RBI, NABARD, banks, and government.
Banks disbursed Rs. 51,647 crore to 13.22 lakh beneficiaries (99.63% of Annual Credit Plan financially, 79% physically) and sanctioned Rs. 1,082 crore to 26,637 under employment schemes.
Dulloo urged banks to meet priority sector targets, set up banking outlets in Unbanked Rural Centers by June 30, ensure KYC compliance, and enhance KCC lending with repayment benefits.
Notably, Dulloo launched the J&K Bank Lal Ded Stree Shakti Loan Scheme, designed with JKRLM, to provide credit to women beneficiaries, empowering them as entrepreneurs. He praised J&K Bank’s initiative.
On March 7, J&K Bank and J&K Grameen Bank gave Rs. 100 crore to women SHGs under DAY-NRLM for International Women’s Day, marked by a token cheque to Mission Director JKRLM.
He also pushed for education loans, easier social security claims, and rural banking expansion. Convener Amitava Chatterjee highlighted banks’ focus on priority sectors. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by GM UTLBC Syed Rais Maqbool.
