Known as “IP Ustaad” of Jammu and Kashmir, Naveed Hamid, CEO of SKUAST Kashmir’s SKIIE Centre, has represented the Union Territory at a high-level Brainstorming on Innovations and Startups hosted by Italy’s Ambassador to India, Antonio Bartoli, in New Delhi on April 10–11. Speaking to Onlykashmir.in, Naveed Hamid called it “a collective win for J&K’s startup ecosystem,” signalling global recognition.
Expressing gratitude to the Directors, Deans, Registrars, Officers, and young minds of SKUAST for their unwavering support, Naveed said that the sheer dedication and vision of our Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof Nazir A Ganai, paves the way for us to do wonders in the arena of innovation and Startups.
At the summit, Naveed Hamid showcased SKUAST-K’s SKIIE Centre as a model for academic entrepreneurship, emphasizing J&K’s agri-innovation and IP achievements. Under his leadership, over 300 innovators were mentored, and 70 patents were secured, highlighting Kashmir’s potential to global stakeholders.
With over 13 years of experience in agri-innovation, startup mentorship, and research, Naveed Hamid has been instrumental in shaping the innovation landscape in J&K. Under his leadership, the SKIIE Centre at SKUAST-K has become a beacon of academic entrepreneurship. He has mentored over 300 aspiring innovators, facilitated over 250 patent filings, and helped the University secure 70 patents, earning him the title “IP Ustaad” of J&K. His affiliations span across India’s leading incubators, including IIT Bombay and IIT Kanpur.
“This is not just a personal honor, but a collective achievement for the entire startup ecosystem of Jammu and Kashmir. The world is watching, and we are ready,” Naveed Hamid said.
