Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan launched the EPIC Victory Cricket League (EVCL) in Srinagar, emphasizing the need to provide a platform for Kashmir’s passionate youth to showcase their cricketing talent.
Speaking at the event, Pathan highlighted the region’s raw potential and lack of exposure and training. “We are not just looking for talent but hunger and spirit,” he said, stressing the importance of better infrastructure like turf wickets.
The EVCL, a franchise-based T20 league, will kick off its first season in September 2025 and include over 200 players from across India. Trials will be held in 20 cities between June 15 and July 31 for male cricketers aged 17 to 39.
Pathan urged youth to register for the trials, calling the league “a platform to change lives.” The EVCL matches will be streamed in over seven languages on a major OTT platform.
