Jammu, April 21: J&K National Conference President and former CM Dr. Farooq Abdullah today inaugurated the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Tournament at MAM Stadium, Jammu. Held under the theme ‘Say No to Drugs’, the tournament aims to steer youth towards positive pursuits.

Organized by Tejinder Pal Singh Aman, Provincial President J&K Youth NC, the event kicked off with a match between Majid 313 and Trikuta Cricket Club. The week-long tournament will conclude on April 26.

Interacting with players, Dr. Abdullah praised their energy and urged youth to focus on education and sports while avoiding drug abuse. He lauded Tejinder Pal Singh’s efforts in promoting this message.

Speaking on the occasion, Rattan Lal Gupta, Advocate and Provincial President JKNC, stressed the importance of channeling youth energy into productive areas like sports and education. MLA Ajaz Jan from Poonch Haveli echoed the sentiment, highlighting how sports instill discipline and purpose.

Tejinder Pal Singh Aman emphasized that the tournament is a key part of an ongoing anti-drug awareness campaign aimed at encouraging a healthier lifestyle among youth.

The opening drew enthusiastic support from locals and sports lovers. The tournament will run daily until April 26, ending with a grand finale and prize ceremony.
