Srinagar: In a development with far-reaching positive consequences, the winds of change are finally blowing over the historic and strong separatist bastion Maisuma. According to reliable sources, the brother of a prominent separatist leader has decided to contest the upcoming Local Body polls from the Maisuma area .
It is worth mentioning here that the proposed contesting candidate is a well-known face and has been serving and helping the people of the civil lines and adjacent areas through his social services for the past 20 years. He has vigorously worked against drug abuse in the entire civil lines area.
“Having heavy pressure from the inhabitants, particularly the youth of Maisuma, who want to safeguard their future, has urged the aforesaid candidate to contest the Local Body polls to fulfill their desire.”
The decision comes after it was observed that the representatives of the traditional dynastic political parties miserably failed to deliver and come up to the expectation of the people, sources said, adding that the proposed contesting candidate was approached by many political parties to contest on their ticket, but he declined their offer and decided to contest as an independent candidate.
