In retaliation for US strikes on its nuclear facilities, Iran has launched missiles at American military bases in Qatar and Iraq. Qatar hosts the largest US military base in West Asia.
Qatar has condemned the attack on the Al Udeid Air Base, stating that no injuries were reported. According to Majed Al Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the missiles were intercepted and destroyed mid-air by Qatar’s air defense system.
In a statement, the Iranian Armed Forces said the attack was carried out in response to “the United States’ criminal military aggression against the nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Earlier, on Monday, June 23, 2025, Israel expanded its assault on Iran by targeting government installations in Tehran. This came after Iran launched a barrage of missiles and drones on Israel, with the conflict between the two nations entering its eleventh day.
Saudi Arabia criticized Iran’s “unjustified” attack on the US military base in Qatar, calling it unacceptable and offering “full capabilities” in support of Doha.
