Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated the Buyer-Seller Meet 2025 at SKICC, aiming to reconnect Kashmir’s legendary artisans with global markets. The event, hosted by JKTPO and WWEPC under the RAMP scheme, brought together over 100 sellers and 45 buyers from seven countries and Indian states.
Highlighting Kashmir’s heritage of craftsmanship, CM Omar said the meet is a step toward rebuilding the direct bond between creators and consumers, once naturally fostered by tourism. “We aim to revive that golden connection,” he said.
He announced plans for six regular and six reverse meets annually and stressed ensuring direct benefits for grassroots artisans. “Real recognition must go to the hands that create,” he affirmed.
The Chief Minister also urged innovation in design, infrastructure, and marketing to help artisans meet evolving global tastes. “The government is committed to supporting artisans through raw material banks, colour banks, and design innovation centres,” he added.
Noting the participation of national and international buyers, Omar called it a sign of confidence in Kashmir’s craftsmanship and invited delegates to explore the region’s rich culture and scenic beauty.
Deputy CM Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, and other dignitaries also addressed the gathering.
