Just days ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra 2025, a state-of-the-art Yatri Niwas built entirely through public donations was inaugurated at Pantha Chowk, Srinagar, by Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha. The facility, developed under the aegis of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB), will serve as a major accommodation centre for the Yatris and stands as a testament to public devotion and voluntary service.

“This Yatri Niwas is a symbol of our commitment to ensuring a safe, comfortable and spiritually enriching experience for the devotees of Baba Barfani,” said LG Sinha while dedicating the facility to the pilgrims. He also announced that Phase II of the complex’s construction will begin soon.

Capable of hosting 1300 pilgrims, the five-storey building includes 75 rooms with a capacity of 225 beds and 43 dormitories, offering ample space for large groups of Yatris.

The LG extended heartfelt thanks to Shri Mukesh Garg, member of the Shrine Board, and his team for their pivotal role in executing the project. “This structure reflects selfless devotion and the collective spirit of service,” he said, adding that the Yatra continues to receive overwhelming support from people across Jammu and Kashmir.

LG Sinha also unveiled a special painting on Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra by renowned artist Shri KK Gandhi during the ceremony.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Shri K.N. Rai and Shri Mukesh Garg (SASB members), Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari (Principal Secretary to LG & CEO SASB), Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, IGP Kashmir Shri VK Birdi, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shri Akshay Labroo, and senior officers from the Police, Civil Administration, and the Shrine Board.

With this development, preparations for the Amarnath Yatra have entered a new phase, showcasing improved infrastructure, greater capacity, and renewed spiritual fervour across the region.
