On the solemn occasion of Youm-e-Ashoora, special prayers were held across Kashmir for the people of Palestine, with Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq leading the main address at Alam Sahib Narwara in Srinagar.

In his sermon, Mirwaiz highlighted the profound Islamic significance of Ashoora and paid heartfelt tributes to Imam Alee Maqam Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, who sacrificed their lives in Karbala for truth, justice, and human dignity.

Drawing parallels between Karbala and contemporary struggles, Mirwaiz offered special prayers for the oppressed people of Palestine. He condemned the ongoing genocide and brutal killings in Gaza and beyond, stating: “For the people of Palestine, every day is a Karbala — a relentless struggle for truth, dignity and survival against tyranny.”

He emphasized that the Muslim Ummah, including the people of Jammu and Kashmir, stands united with Palestinians in their just cause. “Palestine and Al-Aqsa are integral to our faith — we will never abandon them,” he declared.

The day was marked with mourning processions, remembrance of Karbala, and fervent prayers for justice in Palestine and across the Muslim world.
