Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the BRICS session on Peace and Security, strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and called it a direct assault on the very soul and dignity of India. Speaking at the high-level multilateral forum, he urged the global community to adopt a unified and uncompromising stand against terrorism.
Referring to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed several innocent lives, Prime Minister Modi said, “It was not just an attack on India, but a blow to the entire humanity.” He expressed deep gratitude to the nations that stood in solidarity with India during its moment of grief.
“Terrorism is the most serious challenge facing humanity today,” Modi asserted. He called for principled and consistent global action against terrorism, saying, “Condemning terrorism should not be based on convenience or location. Any compromise or selective silence amounts to betrayal of humanity.”
He urged BRICS nations to act decisively, including imposing sanctions on terrorists, and said those who support or justify terrorism for political gain must not be treated at par with its victims. “There should be no gap between our words and actions in the fight against terror,” he emphasized.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Modi also addressed the growing conflicts worldwide, noting the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Reaffirming India’s commitment to peace, he said, “India, the land of Lord Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi, believes that dialogue and cooperation — not war and violence — are the only path to securing humanity’s future.”
He concluded his address by extending a warm invitation to BRICS leaders to attend the next BRICS Summit in India, which will be hosted under India’s chairmanship.
