Srinagar, 12 July, 2025: Aimed at promoting environmental awareness among young students, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), organized a drawing competition under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Bilaliya Educational Institute (BEI), Lal Bazar, Srinagar.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 70 students, including both boys and girls, who showcased their creativity on themes like pollution control, waste management, and environment conservation.
The drawings conveyed powerful messages such as “Don’t Cut Trees,” “Go Green,” “Stop Pollution,” and “Don’t Waste Water.”
The top five boys and five girls were felicitated with certificates, awards and gift items for their outstanding artwork and strong environmental messages.
Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, Chairman of NLCO and known as green ambassador of Kashmir, expressed deep appreciation for the initiative “This generation must become green ambassadors of Kashmir. The temperature rising to 39°C is a warning. Environmental activism is not about WhatsApp debates—it’s about restoring springs, protecting our trees, and changing habits starting at home.
Social activist Tauseef Bhat, who interacted with the students, stressed grassroots action “Climate change begins at home.
Abrar Baba, representative from Bharat Petroleum, shared the vision behind the initiative BPCL is proud to contribute towards Swachh Bharat through awareness drives like this.
Other dignitaries present at the event included Irfana Zargar, popularly known as the “Pad Woman of Kashmir,” social activist Peer Mehak and Mr. Owaise, who served as the Volunteer In charge.
Several students shared their thoughts during the event “I showed how trees are being cut and how it leads to climate crisis. My message is simple save nature, save our future,” said a student who won first prize among boys.
“I drew a polluted city versus a green one. We must bring back greenery to Kashmir,” said a girl student .
Principal of Bilaliya Educational Institute, Nissar Ahmad, offered heartfelt gratitude to BPCL and all attendees “We are extremely thankful to Bharat Petroleum for choosing BEI for this important campaign.
