The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the Israeli bombing of the Holy Family Church, affiliated with the Latin Patriarchate in Gaza, which resulted in multiple civilian casualties and severe damage to the church’s historic structure and premises.
In a statement, the OIC also denounced the repeated assaults and incursions by Israeli settlers, under military protection, into Al-Khader Church and the Christian cemetery in Taybeh near Ramallah. The organization warned of an alarming escalation in the Israeli occupation’s systematic targeting of both Islamic and Christian holy sites throughout the occupied Palestinian territories—a flagrant violation of international laws, treaties, and resolutions safeguarding places of worship.
The OIC held Israel fully accountable for the continuation of these attacks and the desecration of religious sanctities. It urged the international community to strongly condemn these actions, take immediate steps to halt such violations, and ensure international protection for the Palestinian people, their land, and their religious heritage.
Notably, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem confirmed that an Israeli strike on Gaza’s only Catholic church killed three people and injured at least ten others, as Israel’s military offensive continues across the besieged enclave.
In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed regret over the incident, attributing the deaths to a “stray” tank round. His remarks followed a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which the issue was reportedly discussed.
