Continuing his humanitarian initiatives, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday launched a dedicated digital web portal aimed at streamlining relief, rehabilitation, and assistance for families affected by terrorism in the Union Territory. Jointly developed by the Home Department and the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the portal is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring the timely redressal of grievances, disbursal of financial aid, and compassionate appointments for eligible next of kin.
Speaking at the launch, LG Sinha emphasized that the administration stands firmly with the victims of terrorism and will ensure that “no legitimate case is left unheard.” The portal enables comprehensive district-wise documentation of victim families, many of whom have faced bureaucratic delays for years in accessing promised support. It also facilitates quick responses to property encroachments involving deceased victims and ensures the expeditious delivery of justice and benefits.
To strengthen the initiative, two toll-free helplines—0191-2478995 (Jammu) and 0194-2487777 (Kashmir)—have been established to receive overlooked or pending applications. In addition, control rooms staffed with trained personnel have been set up for real-time grievance handling. Special monitoring cells at the offices of the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police will regularly review pending cases and coordinate inter-departmental efforts to ensure timely action.
This move comes amid growing public demand for fair treatment of terrorism victims. Just last week, LG Sinha personally handed appointment letters to 40 next of kin of those killed in terrorist attacks in Baramulla, reiterating his government’s “unwavering resolve” to support such families.
In his address, he remarked, “Justice must not only be done but also be seen to be done, particularly for those who suffered because of the violence we are committed to defeating.”
The portal not only addresses financial and employment-related relief but also includes provisions for FIR registration, property reclamation, and access to ongoing legal or administrative support. For many families still grappling with trauma and economic uncertainty, the new digital platform is being hailed as a long-overdue instrument of justice.
