Goa, July 29: Reinforcing India’s maritime self-reliance and shipbuilding prowess, Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) today launched the Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) ICGS ATAL—the sixth in a series of eight cutting-edge vessels being built for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).
Launched at a ceremony in Goa, the 52-metre-long vessel is entirely indigenously designed by GSL, a premier Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence.
With an 8-metre beam and 320-tonne displacement, the FPV is equipped for coastal patrol, island protection, offshore asset security, and key operations such as anti-smuggling, anti-piracy, and search and rescue missions.
GSL CMD Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay hailed the launch as a testament to the shipyard’s commitment to Aatmanirbharta, innovation, and resilience despite global supply chain disruptions. Chief Guest Shri Rozy Agarwal, Principal Internal Financial Advisor at ICG HQ, praised GSL’s execution excellence and its crucial role in strengthening India’s maritime security.
The event saw the participation of senior officials from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Ministry of Defence, and key industry partners.
